The webinar title Blockchain, Web3, and the Token Economy: Opportunities for Innovation and Value Creation in Indonesia was held on 10 September, 2025, via Zoom. This event was organized in collaboration with IEEE Blockchain Indonesia and Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI).

Prof. Andry Alamsyah, who was the keynote speaker for the webinar, is a Professor of Digital Business Strategy at the School of Economics and Business, Telkom University. Prof. Andri opened his talk by pointing out a crucial reality: although blockchain is becoming more well-known, understanding of Web3 and its full potential remains limited, especially in Indonesia

Blockchain, Web3, and the Token Economy

He believes that embracing blockchain goes beyond tech — it requires a cultural and educational shift to explore decentralized models of trust, economic exchange, and business operations. One exciting area Prof. Andri is researching is the integration of blockchain and generative AI. His goal is to design smart contracts that can:

  • Operate automatically between peers (P2P)
  • Reduce risk by eliminating intermediaries (e.g., banks)
  • Enable programmable, transparent transactions

However, he also noted the risks involved in P2P systems, such as users bearing full responsibility for their digital assets, and emphasized the importance of designing systems that are secure, transparent, and user-friendly.

To ground the audience in the fundamentals, Prof. Andri explained Bitcoin as the first successful implementation of blockchain. He noted that Bitcoin emerged after the 2008 financial crisis as a response to declining trust in traditional financial systems, offering a new way to transfer value securely and independently.
